Flight to Peshawar, Pakistan.
We’re starting with some serious exotic flair. Peshawar is a city where colonial architecture blends with traditional bazaars. The air is filled with the scents of spices, perfumes, and colorful fabrics, mixed with the smells of fish, meat, and freshly squeezed orange juice. It is a city that draws you in with its atmosphere and its story.
We cross the legendary border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Just 56 kilometers later, we find ourselves in a completely different world. The road winds past forts from the era of British rule, and every mile is steeped in history. Even if you have seen dozens of borders around the world, Torkham will still captivate all your senses.
We meet our fixer, with whom we have already traveled through Afghanistan nine times. We continue along the mountain highway to Kabul, passing old American forts, deep valleys, and Soviet tanks while hearing our first stories about the country’s history. After arriving in the afternoon, we have traditional Afghan outfits tailored.
In the morning, we leave Kabul and embark on a five-hour journey through a high mountain pass to Bamyan. Giant Buddha statues once stood here—their majestic emptiness still tells its story today. A completely different landscape, different people, and a different outlook on life—you begin to understand the diversity of this country.
Until you see the lakes of Band-e Amir, you do not know what true beauty is. High-altitude lakes at nearly 3,000 meters, as if painted by the hand of the finest artist. A chain of azure lakes surrounded by semi-desert, with the snow-capped Hindu Kush in the background—an image that will stay with you forever.
Return to Kabul, followed by an afternoon tour of the capital: the bird market, a viewpoint over the city, and the war museum. Do you know what a suicide vest or an ordinary-looking pen concealing a weapon looks like? You will see them here.
A flight to Herat, one of Afghanistan’s most beautiful Silk Road cities. An ancient citadel, a majestic Friday Mosque, whirling dervishes, slender minarets, a bazaar full of spices, and narrow mud-brick alleyways. And supposedly the best kebabs in Afghanistan—we will not forget the pistachio ice cream, either!
A full-day journey to Kandahar—the country’s most conservative city. The scenery changes every hour: mountain passes, semi-desert, and finally an endless plain. Along with the landscape, the people, their cars, and the atmosphere change as well.

A flight back to Kabul and the completion of our city tour.
A flight to Mazar-i-Sharif, where we will tour the city, including the famous Blue Mosque, and visit ancient Balkh.
We cross the border into Uzbekistan via the legendary bridge once used by the Soviet army during its withdrawal. We arrive in Termez and continue on to Samarkand.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan: Slovak and Czech citizens do not require visas.
Afghanistan: a visa is required and can be arranged at the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan. The process is often completed while you wait and costs approximately USD 100. Your passport must remain valid for at least six months after your return.
Your passport must not contain an Israeli entry stamp or other evidence of travel to Israel.
It is important to stress that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against travel to Afghanistan. We do not wish to discourage you, but rather to emphasize that we are travelling to a country where circumstances can change quickly.
We want to approach not only this journey, but also you as our travelers, with openness and transparency—and to call things by their true names. If you expect everything to go exactly according to plan, struggle with itinerary changes, require high-standard accommodation, or dislike long transfers, we recommend choosing a different tour from our portfolio.
Afghanistan visas are arranged on site in Peshawar. They cannot be obtained in advance, and we have always secured them through our local contact. However, this is an embassy with its own procedures and rules, which no one can influence.
Women are welcome to join this trip. They do not need to be fully covered, but they must wear a headscarf and long clothing throughout the journey in Afghanistan. Local Afghan authorities may also prohibit women from entering certain places. This has not happened to us, but we will not say that it could never happen.
The supplement for a single room is €390 for the entire tour.
We have visited Afghanistan more than any other travel company in the Czech and Slovak market, and we know what we are doing. Still, please consider carefully whether this trip is right for you. This is not about how many countries you have traveled to, but whether you can be part of a team, follow the rules, and be prepared for changes that you may or may not like. There are no major treks during the expedition.
