Flight to Luanda, the capital of Angola.
A thorough tour of Luanda—a city full of contrasts between modern skyscrapers and colonial landmarks. We will visit the 16th-century São Miguel Fortress, the historic Baixa district, Sé Cathedral, the monumental Agostinho Neto Mausoleum, and stroll along the Marginal promenade. We will sample local cuisine and end the day on the beach at sunset.
A short domestic flight to Cabinda—an Angolan exclave known for its oil reserves. Although it is called the “Kuwait of Africa,” in reality it is a remote region with a simple way of life and very few visitors.
Transfer to the Republic of the Congo. An adventurous border crossing and arrival in Pointe-Noire—the country’s most beautiful coastal city, where a busy port, sandy beaches, and lively markets blend with the atmosphere of a tropical resort.
Flight to Brazzaville—a calm and colorful capital on the banks of the Congo River. We will visit the Basilica of St. Anne, the Pierre de Brazza Memorial, and the Poto-Poto Market, then stroll along the river that separates the Republic of the Congo from neighboring Kinshasa.
A long journey north to the town of Ouesso. The route passes through rainforest regions, villages, rivers, and lakes, and it is along the way that we cross the Equator. A true expedition-style day, full of observations and stories.
A journey through the rainforest—approximately eight hours by boat along rivers and waterways, surrounded by nature, birds, and villages. In the afternoon, we enter the Central African Republic and arrive in Dzanga-Sangha National Park, one of Africa’s most precious ecosystems.
Gorilla tracking — accompanied by expert trackers, we venture into the rainforest to observe western lowland gorillas. This is an authentic, peaceful wildlife encounter, not a tourist attraction. A rare opportunity to watch a gorilla family in the wild.
A visit to forest clearings—known as bais—where forest elephants, buffalo, antelope, and birdlife gather. Forest elephants are smaller than their savannah counterparts, but their behavior is just as fascinating.
A demanding journey into Cameroon. From the border, we travel through rainforests, villages, and towns—watching several faces of Africa unfold before our eyes in a single day. Our destination is the city of Bertoua.
Travel to Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital. We will visit the cathedral, government district, and monuments, as well as vibrant local markets. In the evening, there may be an opportunity to experience local rhythms at a nightclub.
Travel by train to Douala. The railway is a historic experience in itself—it was begun by the Germans and completed by the French and the British. After lunch, we will take a walking tour of the city.
Fly home or extend your journey to Equatorial Guinea.
Take a short flight to Malabo, the capital city, which reveals some of Africa’s greatest contrasts. Once one of the world’s poorest countries, oil transformed it into a state with high GDP, yet local living conditions do not reflect this. Malabo has modern districts as well as neglected areas, and it is ruled by the world’s longest-serving president.
On Bioko Island, we will visit Africa’s rainiest place, climb the country’s highest peak, and discover local cuisine.
Citizens of the Slovak Republic need visas for all countries visited, except Angola. We will arrange the visas for you, but we will need your passport approximately two months before departure. You will not have access to your passport while the visas are being processed, so if you plan to travel elsewhere during that time, consider applying for a second passport (the Slovak Republic permits this option).
All countries we will visit require proof of yellow fever vaccination. When crossing borders, police officers and soldiers regularly check the International Certificate of Vaccination as well. If you are not vaccinated or do not have a valid certificate, please contact www.inocem.sk, where you can arrange both the vaccination and the required documentation.
In closing, this is not an ordinary trip, but an expedition for those who want to experience more than familiar postcard sights. We know the regions we will travel through intimately: we have crossed them several times and have reliable local contacts who allow us to reach places beyond the usual tourist route.
You can look forward not only to discovering the country, but also to a direct encounter with its culture, daily life, and the stories of local people—exactly what makes this journey unique.
Our mission is to organize unconventional expeditions to less-visited countries around the world, off the main tourist trails.
