How would we characterize the Trenčín Region? As a land full of castles, manor houses, and above all, spa towns. Let’s combine the most interesting sights and attractions into a 3-day journey.
Day 1: Start Your Tour at Čachtice Castle
The castle was made famous by Elizabeth Báthory, who lived here at the turn of the 16. and the 17th century. She was known as the “Blood Countess.” Legend has it that she murdered as many as 600 young girls so she could bathe in their blood and remain forever young and beautiful.

Access: By car up to the castle; on foot from Čachtice (bus stop) along the yellow trail in about 45 minutes; on foot from the village of Višňové (train station) along the green trail via a steep ascent in about 45 minutes.
In the afternoon, head to Beckov, which arguably has more legends and stories than any other castle in Slovakia.

Access: By car to the village of Beckov, then on foot past the houses for about 5 minutes.
In the evening, transfer to Trenčín.
Day 2: Not only Trenčín Castle, but also the inscription on the rock (Note: This is no longer considered the northernmost inscription left by Roman troops.) In Trenčín, plan to spend half a day and visit the following sights.

- Between the castle and the town center lies the fortified complex of Mariana mountain. It includes a church, beside which you can descend to the center via a covered wooden staircase built in 1568.
- Piarist Monastery and church on Peace square
- The Town Tower offers a nice view over the city.
Around midday, take a short transfer to Slávnica, where you’ll find an “open-air museum” of aircraft. It features nine exhibits, including pieces from the Military History Institute. From there, make a short transfer to Nimnica, home to the well-known spa town by the Váh River.
Day 3: Bojnice Castle, one of the most visited and most beautiful castles not only in Slovakia, but perhaps in all of Central Europe. The castle complex includes a nearby forest park, where you can spend a pleasant time.

If you’re not in a hurry on this day, stay in Bojnice and enjoy the local spa.
